Who would have thought a high income earning city state with no rural hinterland would do well in standardised testing?

Joy Burch is celebrating the NAPLAN results.

ACT students have ranked top or equal top across all 20 areas tested in NAPLAN 2013, the national report released today shows.

ACT Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch welcomed the release of the 2013 NAPLAN National Report, which shows that the ACT continues to perform strongly across all areas, ranking as the highest, or equal highest jurisdiction.

The report shows that the ACT continues to excel in reading and has been the highest performing jurisdiction in Australia every year since 2008.

The ACT also ranked first or equal first for grammar and punctuation and numeracy in NAPLAN testing across all year levels since 2009.

Agreed Johnboy.

Would be interested to see how we compare against all the other capital cities as well as regional cities like Geelong, Gold Coast and Newcastle. I’m particularly interested in how we compare to Perth, a city that I think is the most comparable to Canberra in Australia (in terms of demographics)
