Can anyone please tell me a phone number to get ACT Parking Operations to come and book people in handicapped zones?
There are a number of regular flouters of the zones who need to learn a lesson.
thanks

Ha now that’s funny Riotact are two out of the top three results for ACT parking operations on Google

I don’t CARE if it was a doctor’s car. My point was that I could forsee a proportion of general punters not giving a $hit about the needs of people with mobility difficulties, but would be quite disgusted if it was a doctor who’d chosen to ignore the parking restrictions in the name of a spot in the shade and quicker walk to the lifts.

Who cares if it was a doctors car or not… They have allocated parking for medical practitioners. Disabled car parks should be for disabled people only.

Good luck asking for future help here Whitey.

Very true, but posting here and trying to start a fight is more fun it would seem….

Spot on Wraith. And when that didn’t work straight away, personal insult is the next step.

spinact – you obviously have the same iq as those that are illegally parking in the handicapped spots, insulting you wouldn’t be worth the time.

…how about YOU Google “why am I such a douche”

“Douche” frustrates me as one of those irritating words which is creeping into regular usage from American influence. I wonder how many of the kids of today use it as an insult before googling to see what it means? And why do Americans like squirting water places so much anyway?

Agreed. I hate that crap American insult.

Why do people have to concern themselves with other peoples problems?

If a driver wishing to use the parking spot legally has an issue because of an illegally parked car and reports it then good on them and I support them. But if it is just a couple of bored office workers finding the next crusade….get over yourselves and get back to work!!!

Hey southeeplace – no change there mate – best beer in Canberra that’s for sure.
Don’t mind a drop of the Wigs either.
cheers

I called Parking Operations via Canberra Connect a few weeks ago regarding a car without a permit in the disabled carparking area at TCH. Not just any car without a permit, but a lovely silver Mercedes 350SLK.

Something that looks like this does somewhat draw the eye, and curiosity got the better of us as to whether a person with a disabled parking permit did indeed drive or travel in a car worth about $120k, which you have to concertina yourself into and which has minimal space in which to store a wheelchair or walker or crutches even.

No permit in sight, hence the call to Parking Ops. TCH Security polices parking on the hospital grounds, so a quick trip upstairs to reception led to one of the security officers going to get his ticket book and head downstairs.

I so hope that it wasn’t a doctor’s car, just a visitor with more $$$ than manners.

This from someone who can’t figure out how to work Google.

It’s funny how people who are obviously not smart enough to use google and click the mouse a couple of times resort to “insults” to try and hide the fact.

There’s even a ACT Government directory listing in the google results which involved a whole 1 click of the mouse, it states the number no less than 11 times.

http://www.directory.act.gov.au/ccExternal_5.1/webdir/cgi-bin/webdua.cgi?ea2_.&organizationalUnit&ou%3DPARKING%20OPERATIONS%2Cou%3DCOMPLIANCE%20-%20ORS%2Cou%3DOFFICE%20OF%20REGULATORY%20SERVICES%2Cou%3DDEPARTMENT%20OF%20JUSTICE%20AND%20COMMUNITY%20SAFETY%20-%20JACS%2Cou%3DACT%20GOVERNMENT%20AGENCIES%2Co%3DAustralian%20Capital%20Territory%2Cc%3DAU

Sorry, bd84 – with that load of useful Google info, I wasn’t able to see the specific number that is used to call an area that would send a patrol. My original question must have been a little confusing, even for someone as obviously intelligent as you.

Jesus, Whitey, chill out before you burst something. bd84’s suggestion was perfectly legit, though bd84 was wrong in that it only took me 7 secs to get the info by googling ‘ACT Parking Operations’. And for facilitating that self-help you call them a douche?

Also, are the spaces on private property? I think you need to ‘invite’ them to fine, not sure if that includes a written MOU. Of course if it is private property then let down their tyres! That will teach them!

The spaces are in areas that parking operations look after but they only sometimes patrol.

“I did do that but didn’t see a definitive number”

Funny, I typed “ACT Parking Operations” into Google, and the *very first link* had a helpful phone number at the bottom of the page.

I’m with bd84.

Why seek to move the car? Do the opposite. Just go let the air out of all four tires. With any luck the offender will think their tires have been slashed and get the car towed at their expense. Also increases the window of opportunity for a parking inspector.

what is it about low-lifes using handicapped zones, funky1?

Wraith, I am puzzled by this comment – it was a legitimate query – there are several of us where I work that have observed dickheads in these carparks inconveniencing rightful users.

Don’t get me started on low-lifes using handicapped zones!
(No really, don’t)
🙂

Wouldn’t it have been easier to google “ACT Parking Operations” and get the answer in about 10 seconds?

Just call Canberra Connect and ask for Parking Operations – phone 132281
