ACT Public Service Pay Deal???

I have just spent 20 mins looking around to try and find out if….. and maybe when…. we will finally get the pay increases that were agreed upon in April. Well I think us ACT Public Servants have been really patient, it is more the lack of communication that gets me. We have rumours every couple of weeks that it is finally signed off, and we will get the pay rise 4% and backpay to 4th April imminently…yet it never seems to appear.

So I thought I would once again raise the issue, and put it out to all Riot-ACT’ers to fill me in.

How do we find out when we get paid the increase and what we have forfitted for the pleasure?

But if the backpay comes in one clump, you briefly go into Kerry Packer’s tax bracket and lose half of it in tax.

It depends on your agency and where they are up to with the vote/registration of agreement process. Treasury have had theirs agreed and registered and we are getting the new rate of pay from 4/10 payday, and backpay is being progressively paid from then (not sure how or in what order) as shared services process it (wouldn’t you want to be in payroll at these times!). so check with your union person about where yours is up to if it has been approved then it should be paid soon. pity the department that gets theirs fixed last they might be waiting a while! My bet is on a nice christmas bonus!

Sydney or Melbourne get remunerated quite generously to be a chef.

Canberra for size and pretentiousness you only pay melbourne or sydney prices as a customer but get paid canberra wages…

Make that ‘public’ service … or not.

I’ll be the first to admit that individual contracts are not for everyone. If you’ve slaved away as a chef, I’m not surprised you like the pay and conditions of the pubic service.

VY – I done 8 years in private industry (chef) I find the APS much better – but ultimately I would like to work for myself as a (insert trade thats not a chef here)

Ahh, collective agreements… I like my individual contract where I negotiate whatever I can get, and then get the increase immediately…

The CA has still not been signed by everyone and voted on. The 12% over three years was agreed by all parties on the 4th April – therefore we get backpay to that date, but when that happens appears to be known by no one.

My HR dept dont appear to care or know – they will just endorse it when it comes into action.

If I type in a search under Google 0 then only the expired CA comes up. If I look on the CPSU website – they just tell us it is waiting to be signed (still)!

I’m not sure if things are done the same way for you guys as us federales, but isn’t this all outlined in your new/proposed CA?

Err isn’t that negotiated on a per agency basis internally – being reviewed by the APSC?

I would be talking to your HR department – we got our 4% about 11 months after the last CA expired – with back pay not included – then another 4% a month after that.
