ACT records 1080 new COVID-19 infections; 54th pandemic death

The ACT’s daily COVID-19 caseload is again above 1000 and the Territory has recorded another COVID death. A woman in her 90s has died with the virus, becoming the 54th COVID fatality since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The 1080 (561 PCR and 519 RAT) cases reported in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8 pm last night take the total active cases to 5782 (2927 PCR and 2855 RAT).

There have been a total of 107,769 (67,112 PCR and 40,657 RAT) infections recorded in the ACT.

The double-dose vaccination rate for the ACT’s five-plus population remains 97 per cent and 75.4 per cent of residents aged 16 and older have now received a booster.

Of ACT residents aged five to 11, 65.9 per cent have received two doses of vaccine.

There are 67 people in hospital with the virus. Four people require intensive care but no one is being ventilated.

Yesterday, the ACT recorded 1027 COVID-19 cases and 64 people were in hospital.

Interstate, NSW has reported 21 deaths overnight and 11,939 new cases of COVID-19.

There are now 1510 people in hospital with the virus and 68 people in ICUs around the state.

Victoria has reported 11 deaths overnight and an additional 10,779 cases of COVID-19.

There are now 473 people hospitalised with the virus, while 25 patients are in the state’s intensive care units.

ACT in continuous state of emergency for 2 years. CHO planning to extend it yet again. Why? What does the emergency actually consist of?

And again, the rhetorical trick of publishing deaths “with” Covid. What was the actual cause of death? If it was not Covid, how is it ethical to publicize their death as if it was?
