Wanted: Women for the 2019-2020 ACT Ministerial Advisory Council on Women.

The ACT Government is seeking women from across varied age groups, diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of community and occupational expertise to advise it on issues of importance to women.

It is calling on them to nominate for membership of the 2019-2020 ACT Ministerial Advisory Council on Women, an independent body able to raise and debate issues that matter to women in the ACT.

Minister for Women Yvette Berry said their work reflects the objectives of the ACT Women’s Plan.

The council also monitored the progress of achievements towards these objectives through consultation with women in the community and relevant organisations.

Ms Berry said members were selected for their expertise and experience in issues affecting women, and nominees should have a sound knowledge of the interests and concerns of ACT women, and an ability to consult and represent on a wide range of issues.

“The ACT Government is committed to removing barriers to enable women and girls to reach their potential, contribute to innovation and ideas and to take up leadership positions,” she said.

Nominations are invited from individuals and representatives of women’s organisations and peak bodies in the ACT who are able to demonstrate commitment to the advancement of women.

Nominations close on 19 October 2018 and application packages can be obtained from the ACT Office for Women online at www.women.act.gov.au or at women@act.gov.au, or by phoning 6205 1075.
