ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after an object was thrown at an ACTION bus yesterday afternoon (Saturday 15 September).

About 1.45pm, ACTION bus number 495 was travelling eastbound on Cowlishaw Street, Greenway, approaching the intersection with Anketell Street.

About that time a heavy object, believed to be a spanner, has been thrown at the bus from a cream coloured vehicle travelling westbound on Cowlishaw Street.

The impact of this object has caused severe damage to the driver’s side of the bus windscreen, showering the driver with small fragments of glass.

The bus continued to Woden Bus Interchange where all passengers were transferred to another bus and bus 495 returned to the ACTION depot in Greenway.

No one was injured in this incident.

Witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

My money is on that cream coloured vehicle being an (off) white commodore

Seeing as all the buses have front facing cameras, this seems to be pretty stupid behaviour. I’d imagine the camera will show the vehicle in question and make for an easy investigation!

Before I read the article I thought the heading meant that someone had finally decided to service one of the buses. Seriously though I’m glad no one was seriously hurt.
