ACTION are warning of the services they’re unwilling to provide as potentially toxic smoke envelopes the Inner North.

ACTION bus services running in North Canberra have now recommenced. Services will be diverted away from Mitchell. School services in North Canberra will not operate this morning. It is expected that all school services will run as per the schedule this afternoon.

What good is an exclusion zone, stretching way past unaffected areas?

Buses were still going into civic, but from not as far away. The further away areas were unaffected, and were much less likely to hear about any service interuption.

So what did that achieve other than putting a whole heap of far away commuters out?

Typical (non)ACTION

@workmatic, none. Friend of mine was going from Belco to Civic, and noone at the interchange was being warned.

I am in Downer so I was lucky I had the answering machine message on my home phone, or I would have sat on Northbourne perplexed.

what kind of warning did you get if you were at the bus stop waiting for a bus?

I liked how ABC news 24 described Action Buses as “very popular with the locals”.

I doubt if anyone at the ABC uses Action buses. The large carpark behind their building is always full.

This doesn’t explain why buses stopped running from Civic Interchange to Woden Interchange this morning between 8.00 – 9.00 am. WHY??? The fire was in Mitchell not Woden FFS. There should have been plenty of spare buses with North side schools closed down. Did ACTION go out on sympthy for the kiddies or something?
