The Greens’ Amanda Bresnan is voicing concerns that ACTION have not done a very good job letting people know a new timetable is kicking off in two weeks:

ACT Greens Transport spokesperson, Amanda Bresnan MLA, has expressed concern about ACTION’s lack of communication to the public regarding new network changes due to start in less than 2 weeks.

“ACTION is making positive improvements to expand services and put rapid services at the heart of the network, but the public communication of the new network has come at the very last minute,” Ms Bresnan said.

“We have seen a huge number of changes made to the ACTION network over the years, and while these new changes are positive, ACTION needs to bring the public along with them rather than cause more confusion.”

So bus users, better get reading up.

Not much as changed other than a couple of route alterations and movig routes a couple of minutes each way. Window dressing a terrible network with a couple of new names into a network that is just as bad as the current one. People don’t actually need too know much about the new network, nothing has changed.

Holditz, yes the profile of the old bus lane out of Belconnen has been modified so it now rises to meet the Lathlain/Cohen intersection (and the Westfield bus station). The old soviet bloc interchange has been razed, and the replacement boulevard gently slopes from Benjamin Way through to Emu Bank, going beneath the existing Chandler Street overpass.

I’ve been checking daily for this info and even this morning it wasn’t up.

It has been definitely up since Wednesday, my browser history confirms it. I was a mite alarmed by the new Blue Route’s stops for Woden- it lists only Woden pool. After calling ACTION they confirmed with me the Launceston St stop will also be serviced by the Blue Route.

I barely have to go into Belconnen at all nowadays, but I remember the old Belconnen Bus Interchange: can someone confirm the route of the new Belconnen interchanges? According to the leaflet there will be a “Westfield” stop, just off the Lathlain/Cohen crossstreet. Has a ramp been built to the lower street to meet with the Benjamin Way crossing? Now, as I remember the old Belconnen bus interchange was raised, so buses went down and up. From the diagram on the leaflet, the Community bus stop is on the same level as Benjamin way and still incorporating the Chandler street overpass. How does that work? Does the Community bus road slope up towards the existing Chandler street bridge? Does that mean that the old concrete block bus depot has been demolished?

Earth to Amanda… It’s been VERY WIDELY advertised. Ms Bresnan needs to step back into reality and away from playing at being a MLA.

Hmmm time to double post.. I’m confused. Letter in mailbox warning of major changes to the expresso service in my area. That they will also no longer be using the stops on Northbourne Ave. and my bus timetable is exactly the same. Oh oh the very first bus now departs 1 MINUTE later… WOW !!! Thats going to separate all those buses departing Kippax at the same time, then nothing for 30 mins.

What does the word “breadcrumb” mean on the ACTION web page listing the bus routes:

Am I missing something here??

Wikipedia explains: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breadcrumb_(navigation)

I suspect that someone forgot to change the default text when setting up the site.

I thought the timetable was changed daily?

By the drivers, as they see fit.

You know on this timetable it still takes and hour to get from my home to Woden. As a consequence I still drive there in 25 minutes.

perhaps Amanda needs to get out of her taxpayer funded car and catch the bus more often. There have been flyers advertising this on every bus I have caught of late.

So will there be a bus that runs all the way from Kippax to Civic on weekends?
That would be useful.

I got a leaflett thinking with all the fancy new named routes in the lettter box. Nothing I can catch from my place though.

From the Action Website:

When and where can I get a new bus timetable?
The new timetables and a brochure detailing the network improvements will be available from Monday 1 November 2010 on the ACTION website, at any Canberra Connect Shopfront, at ACTION bus stations, or by calling 13 17 10.

Hmmm new timetables online from Monday 1st Nov…. its Friday and I’m still waiting.
