i have read an article on google ad process and it is quite a fascinating process.
but if we keep getting irrelevant ads, then we should give our feedback so that it doesnt come back.
in a way , if you are looking for some product or service, then ads come in handy .

Why are they offering me box sets of “The Waltons” on DVD????? Did someone type in “LG’s anxiety dreams”?

incidentally the google ad bots don’t visit that often. so if the stgory doesn’t picque their interest first time around there’s little chance of a second bite at the cherry in the comments.

Gotta spend money to make money el pig.

For inexplicable reasons our click through rate has soared skywards today.

Anyway if Kramer was worried about the money he’d add the ads to the archive and negotiate the free bandwidth our ISP already offered to provide.

BlameMonkey – we actually have one of our headlines under the RoitACT banner as “Beer for Comment” and we’re happy to stick by that

Surely the racing industry would advertise, what with all the mentions of naked horses on the-riotact.

you get some good ones 🙂 One group blopg I’ve got keeps getting things for cheeses… but recently we’ve upped the talk about clarients and so have found out about places to hire clarients and other instruments…

due to my time and mentioning of wagga and albury I’ve been getting stuff for going on a holiday there. Not that I really want to…

whe I come here it’s usually stuff for accomodation or cheap flights, or the ones for getting paid to do surveys, which of course you can only do if you want to pay them to pay you… as far as I understand….

Great thought Random, but your beer post got me:

*Stylus Studio XML IDE
and
*Free Blog Tools & Hosting

The more we use the word beer, the more beer ads will appear. Just one mention of hosting and connections and we got a big ass coloured banner at the top.

Beer

lager

bitter

hops

beer

Lets see what that gets us.

That still doesn’t answer the pressing issue… How many clicks = a Pint???
but Seriously are you talking like banner adds for the civic pub sort of thing, and if there was advertisment for a pub would there be a cash for comment thing going, eg Wow i got really good service at *insert pub Here*

Canberra pubs haven’t come to the party for the idea of advertising so I say we go the keg on legs option and just have a big piss-up at home

I’m all for beer… How many clicks equal a pint???

Across the BAR! We still owe Kramer for connection costs and I thought you wanted to up grade some of our hardware? I was under the belief the google adds were to cover running costs not beer money (although I’m sure our readership would prefer free beer to a faster connection, etc).

ohmygod another economist reader! what did you think of the oil article ?

I can’t wait to see it Ads By THE HOFF 🙂

The googleads process is a fascinating and complicated one.

basically the advertisers are bidding for space on pages matching certain criteria and an instant spot market is formed and resolved the first time someone clicks on a new page.

That assessment lasts about a week before a new one is made.

This week’s Economist devoted half a page to the process.

ads for RiotACT are crippled by the very few ACT advertisers but we’re averaging $1.80 USD a day at the moment.

As the online advertising market matures that could really shoot up.

But, with the current paucity of ads matching our content there are going to be more duds than hits.

we’re going to put the proceeds across the bar as soon as we get the first cheque (next month some time, sooner if you all get clicking).

But here at RA we’re not responsible for the content of the ads.

Enjoy them while they last! Any day now we’ll be getting David Hasselhoff ads…

There was a story a couple of weeks ago about a mouse plauge inbound.

Proofread ya mook!
