Adventure Paintball - another Break in...

On Saturday morning, persons unknown got into one of the shipping containers at Adventure Paintball, ran up a generator and then proceeded to cut in to another container. They cut through the earth lead on the 18.5 kVa generator, (possibly thinking it was an alarm cable) and are very lucky to not have caused themselves serious injury..

So if anyone gets offered some ‘cheap’ paintball goggles, equipment or 40000 paintballs at the pub, please let me know.

thanks,

@Peterh:
That much is covered by the Crimes Act, and would require explicit consent from Kieran to such extent that it would satisfy the burden of proof placed on any accused by Kieran or the DPP.
Don’t try it.

@Kieran:
Bearing in mind its been about two years since I last supervised or worked a shift there (or since I have been out to AP to know what your site layout is like now, but I don’t have an excuse for that one) and have since changed industries entirely and so only have social contact with their employees, things may have changed some or even for the better.
But Management were amazingly resistant to improving things when I worked there, and the same people are still in charge now.
Jb has my email if you wanted to get in touch off RA.

You just need an ED-209 loaded with 40000 paintballs not past their use-by date

Dunno what your arrangements are like now comparedt o when I used to work there, but the first step is also the simplest.
Have you ever tried to break into your own premises?

now there is an opportunity for some RA people with nothing to do, one night… as long as kieran explains if they are actually caught.

Hide on site one night with some NVG and BDU’s and see if security logs reflect actual physical checks.

@ skid…no markers taken. just some (mainly)old paint and tools and some goggs.

It also seems you know more about the security arrangements than i do…anything I should do to confirm performance of duty???

Kieran

Kieran, if you’re still with who I think you’re still with, if it isn’t in writing or able to be backed up by confirmation from an attendance record from the wand (less so their PATRIOT log), take anything you’re told verbally by Aaron or Michael with a grain of salt.

But if I get offered markers ‘off the back of a truck’ I will let you know.

Surely this is simply an insurance problem?

G’day all,

Break ins/vandalism etc happens all the time. Especially so in the school holidays. Most businesses chose not to make the occurrences public. I choose to ‘publicise’ the thefts in the forlorn hope that personal equipment belonging to my staff can be recovered.

I am not going to respond to any specifics about my security arrangements except to say:
– There is regular evidence of attempted break ins.
– two successful ‘events’ in 4 years reflects that in the main, the security arangements are appropriate.
– My physical security model is such that nothing operationally sensitive is kept on site. All attractive items are stored elesewhere.
– I am very happy with the service provided by my security provider.
– I constantly review my security procedures. This event highlights a ‘tweaking’ of my processes to prevent a recurrence of such events.

Also, as the forensics team came out immediately and did their thing, there may be a positive result at a later date.

What happened to security ? they not doing there job ?

I would also be interested to find out what is going on with the (former, I imagine things have changed and are probably not wise to discuss in an open forum) security arrangements, Kieran.
This seems fairly well-prepared and organised, if they cut through shipping containers, and knew where your onsite equipment was…

Alarm system disconnected\not regularly (or frequently)polling, and monitoring provider somewhat blase about it?
Was your hired patroller’s response time to previous ‘false’ alarm activations less than your estimated time required to violate the site?
Patrols became -too- regular\predictable?

If all the paintballs stolen were green, I’d check with the Labor party. Maybe it’s an effort to reduce tho cost of cycleways.

In all seriousness, the robbery sux and I hope these idiots are caught. But what will they do with that many paintballs if they don’t have a gun?

heh

I’m sure they will have fun going around and throwing them at people’s propertie, probably from a moving vehicle. Sounds stupid enough for the morons to do. Though it does seem they were organised and knew what they were doing (mostly), I’d expect they have a purpose.

I heard the poster on 666 on my drive home – Apparently the paintballs stolen are past their Use By date and useless
