Adventure Paintball Tournament

G’day all,

The 3rd round of the Adventure Paintball Novice series was held on the weekend. We also had the ABC TV come out and film some interviews and plenty of the action. RA’s resident paintball devotee, Blame Monkey, will no doubt star in any resulting images as he is far from being a shrinking violet when the camera starts rolling! Although IMHO he has a better head for radio than TV ;). Hopefully the footage will pop up as a news item in the next few weeks.

In the end, Novice new comers “BAM!” showed that a complete lack of team work and nil preparation are not handicaps by taking out the day in convincing style over the well drilled and well rehearsed “Nightstalkers”. Other newcomers “Lambs” filled the minor placings. Regulars “Frentic” and “Free Boobs” played as 3 man teams against the novice 5 man teams and were soundly beaten proving that skill and grace are not sufficient against superior numbers and dumb luck! “Free Boobs” distinguished themselves by not troubling the scorers for the entire day.

The day went really well with refereeing provided by Sydney Pro Team “Apocalypse” with support from some of the local Adventure staff.

The next tournament will be held on 3 Jun with the same 5 man Novice format.

cheers, Kieran

I am back for the June tourney.. oh yeah. Can’t wait to see more players take on the sport and get amongst it.

thanks for the clarification Kieran – very good of you. In that light you’re right – and it’s good fun for all. I understand the BAM! lads are keen for the June tourney and have at least another team rustled up to take part – should be good!!

Gday guys, sorry if my comments were taken as being critical..I was actually trying to indicate that the beauty of the Novice tournaments is that Novices can come and play and do well against slightly more experienced teams. BAM! did extremely well in winning the tourney and getting some beer tokens into the bargain! So congrats to them!
AS for the TV footage, as soon as I know when it is on, so will the rest of RA! Also, as a bonus, the ABC guys indicated they will give us a copy of all the footage they took..so once I learn how to post on youtube it will be put up there as well!

I missed out on this weekend due to being up in QLD (life is tough) so Yeah I would love to know when this is being broadcast. I wanna see my boys in action!

If it wasn’t for the Internet and RiotACT I don’t know where or who I’d bitch to, but here I go.

Just because Nightstalkers had 3/5 members wearing the same brand of pants, all had shirts with a skull and their last name on it (home made with stencils and go-lo white spray paint), and rocked up on time to walk the field (which wasn’t ready at that stage, as in to say, you were late as keiran :P), it doesn’t make them an efficient, brutal killing machine. yes its players have played 3 or 4 more games in the past but it was our first tourney together, and BAM! didn’t totally come out of nowhere. They deserve the following be said of them: All players appeared to be of diverse cultural, social and age background and all worked together and they played and fought very effectively maintaning a lead throughout the day. They displayed exceptional sportsmanship (which unfortunately can’t be said about every one who participated 🙁 )…

ANYWAYS… if everyone could keep their dvd recorder on standby and record our local paintballers on ABc, I’m sure those boys and girls would love ya for it to put it on youtube or google vids…

Be good kiddos!

I think Kieran is a little harsh – BAM! may have started out disorganised but quickly adapted and learned – and by the end were far better drilled – dropping only 1 game all day. Can’t have been that bad I’d say. Nothing beats some well placed shots IMHO!
