Advice on contractors - small laundry renovation

We are wanting to do a small reno on our laundry & downstairs loo – essentially ripping out the old laundry tub, repositioning the waste, sealing up the tub taps (we’re not replacing the tub), installing a bench over the washer and dryer (custom joinery), replacing the small washbasin and retiling the whole area.

We are fairly handy ourselves and could probably do a bit of this – but any advice for contractors that will (a) take on a small job, and (b) be reliable and reasonably priced? (but we are willing to pay for a good job)

We are in Queanbeyan.

Thanks!

before you do anything – get an asbestos assessment. And make sure whoever does the reno is qualified to handle the stuff.

The laundry is the most likely part of a house built prior to 1985 or so to have asbestos.

there are too may yahoo tradesmen around who just ignore the risks of asbestos and carry on like it’s normal plasterboard without getting it tested first.

I was just wondering if you had any luck with your laundry renovation and if so, could you pass on the details of the contractors.
