Katy Gallagher has the happy news that from 1 July there will be no stamp duty on caravans:

Stamp duty will be abolished on applications to register caravans and camper trailers in the ACT from 1 July, after the Legislative Assembly today passed the Duties Amendment Bill 2010, ACT Treasurer, Katy Gallagher announced.

“The changes will make it more attractive for purchasers of non-motorised caravans and camper trailers to register in the ACT and will be welcomed by the caravan and camping industry,” Ms Gallagher said.

Finally some real movement on affordable housing!

More like the govt trying to cash in on the grey nomad market. Get them to purchase and register their caravans here in the ACT.

As someone in the market to buy a camper/caravan during July, this is indeed happy news.

The second part of that press release is more interesting. Good news for families who want to make provision for the long term care of disabled family members.

Good move.

Sorry for the typo

that’s ‘affordable’ not ‘affordabloe”

bad spellers of the world untie !

Affordabloe housing?

I knew it was too good to be true when listening to the episode of Cactus Island on the radio the other day – a neat skit about affordable housing which ended up to be various styles of Tents…Ha

Now we have official government policy

Itnormally tkes a lot to impress me but there you go.

Movement being the operative word with a dwelling on wheels my dear editor.
