AFP become weather bureau and cast legal doubts on bicycle bar crawl

I have just noticed an unusual press release on the AFP website. In it the person who wrote it, and was presumably very bored, has decided that the AFP is the weather bureau and needs to tell us about the rainfall. Whilst it started off in context:

“We’re likely in for several days’ rain and the collisions have started to mount since it began falling overnight,” Traffic Operations’ Sergeant Jeff Knight said today.

It degraded into a weather report

ACT has recorded 465mm of rain for the first 10 months compared with 455mm for all of 2004.
Canberra’s October rainfalls have totalled as little as 7mm in 2002 and as high as 72mm in 2003. So far Canberra has recorded 22mm in October alone this year.

The AFP also has the audacity to take an indirect swipe at the RiotACT bicycle bar crawl.

“It is also important while driving to the conditions to ensure all road users pay attention – especially to the basic road rules such as not drinking and driving or riding,” Sgt Knight said.

They did eventually get to the point of the press release and say that a motorcyclist “allegedly” blew .195 in the rain.

I’m not quite sure why the AFP are the new BOM, but their press releases will need to be more regular if they are to maintain this new role.

In Afghanistan, it is illegal to ride an intoxicated camel. The same should apply here.

I wonder if camels are allowed to drive cars?

good to know that you don’t need a licence for your camel and they arent classed as a vehicle either… so it is legal to ride an unlicenced camel whhilst intoxicated in the ACT.

I’m glad you’re glad.

Even if there was I doubt it would do you much good.

well im glad that you came to your senses. is there a support group ?

Because some people don’t have the sense to slow down when the roads are wet. Greater stopping distance, less traction between tyres and the road surface. There are far more ptangs when it is wet, particularly during the first showers of rain when oil and debris plus water makes the road slippery.

It is alsoan offence to ride a bicycle on a road or public place whilst intoxicated.

but they’re soooo comfortable. and uprights are just too damn tall and unbalanceable…

though i’d call myself more of a lapsed recumbent rider if i’m being honest — i’ve got a car now.

you can seek treatment.

well best stop addressing me directly then bonfire.

kerces, i have no wish to associate with someone who transgresses right thinking. recumbent bicycles are unnatural on many levels, and so are the types that use them.

Drive by car door should do just fine.

For that may I suggest a fun way to pass the time would be a surfcaster with several large hooks attached may be more successful than a firearm 🙂

Ahhh…I used to hunt in my younger days. Sadly my marksmanship was such that a shottie ended up being weapon of choice.

I’d just like to be able to shoot the face/gas mask off the recumbent, that’s all! 🙂

xman, being able to shoot to kill is the same as being able to shoot.

The ability to kill is called marksmanship.

I do…and I’d love to be able to shoot to kill.

yes, well you would bonfire. Know any recumbent cyclists personally?

i suspect its aimed specifically at recumbent cyclists.

Shoot to Kill fucktards, shoot to kill.

Sam I suspect “not drinking and driving or riding” refers to motorcyclists. But then you never know what goes through the heads of people drafting releases.
