AFP duty belt - including firearm - stolen from police vehicle in Fraser

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to locate property stolen from an Australian Federal Police (AFP) vehicle in Fraser yesterday (30 September).

Among the items stolen was an AFP duty belt and accoutrements including a firearm.

ACT Policing continues to follow several lines of enquiry and encourages anyone who may have information about the location of the stolen property to contact police as soon as possible.

Police have also requested dash-cam footage recorded between 5:00 am and midday in Fraser yesterday.

AFP Professional Standards is conducting an internal investigation in relation to the incident.

Whilst I have no doubt that this cop is in for a world of pain because of this theft, the reality is that a civilian firearm owner would be before the courts under the same circumstances.
It’s hard to think of any other aspect of Australian life where the victim of crime is the one who is the focus of the investigation.

Amazing how I have to store everything to do with my firearms in a safe, and could lose my license for a stray primer laying on my bench, but the police can leave a loaded handgun, tazer and pepper spray just laying in their cars without issue. Complete joke.
