Air Force Aerobatics for Aust Day

Royal Australian Air Force aircraft will conduct an aerobatic display and a flypast over Canberra as part of Australia Day 2008 celebrations.

Six Roulette PC-9/A aircraft from RAAF Base East Sale and three F/A-18 Hornet aircraft from Number 77 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle will be participating.

Friday 25 January – 7.30 pm
A six aircraft formation from the RAAF Roulettes will conduct an aerobatic display over Federation Mall as part of the Australian of the Year awards.

Saturday 26 January – 10.30am
Three F/A-18 Hornets will fly over Regatta Point (on Lake Burley Griffin) as part of a flag raising and citizenship ceremony. Fast jet path: The three Hornets will approach Regatta Point from the south east at an altitude of approximately 300 metres.

Only 2 FA18s and over so fast was still getting into position…
Bit disappointed actually.

Anyone score any video of the F18 or Roulettes? I found this video from a couple of years ago – pretty cool.

And probably spent more on fuel doing it than I make in a year…
But I’ll be out there watching tomorrow!

Last year a solo Hornet flew through and was gone in 30 seconds!

I wouldn’t mind seeing those F/A-18’s. I’ll miss the roulettes as I’ll be at Bid Day Out. Thanks for the heads up.
