The ABC informs us that the darkness on the edge of town, aka Canberra Airport, has released it’s latest master plan (the last one having been rejected) which now includes turning the whole area into a new city.
- The plan, which covers the next 20 years, provides the first insight into how the airport may develop the former RAAF property.
While it concedes there are strict guidelines on what can be developed on the land, the master plan includes tourism, small scale retail, hotel and other commercial accommodation.
Under Federal restrictions, single and some multi-unit developments could be permitted on the land.
They’re asking for your thoughts on the proposed development, best to read the whole thing before sounding off:
- Written comments are welcome and must be received by 5pm Friday 8 May 2009.
