AIS set new standard for consistency in WNBL.

In reality what they had was a normal year. The years that they actually win games are exceptional. They year they won the WNBL was a once in a lifetime thing – with Jackson, Veal and others.

They’re talented, but still only 15 to 17 years of age so shouldn’t be expected to win against ‘adult’ teams.

They do miss Phil Brown though. The one game I saw this season they were ill-disciplined and soft, not what you expect from an AIS team.

The other thing that has started to be a factor both for the AIS and the WNBL in general, is the drain of young player talent to US College programs. The educational, sporting and social opportunites a scholarship provide are very tempting.

And as a parting shot…the AIS should be Canberra’s ONLY WNBL team. The Capital’s are a waste of time and money!
