Ever wondered if the postal service was safe?

ABC Online has news of the sentencing of Alan Machado, 38, of Queanbeyan, “who opened mail and attempted to alter several cheques and deposit them in his bank account”.

Personally I love the idea he was so thick he thought banks would accept liquid paper over the payee details. It’s alarming that he succeeded twice.

Of the five cheques, two were credited to his account, at a total of $685.

The other three were handed to security.

Over two days, 40 stolen mail articles were found in his vehicle.

Machado has pleaded guilty to two charges of dishonestly appropriating articles in the course of post.

I think he should be jailed personally, who’s to say he won’t do it again but in a different way, like robbing someone, or even worse killing someone because he becomes despirate. I personally know this man and I can tell you he has a very addictive nature to anything that is illegal. I’m not suprised he got off with a slap on the wrist though, as this is his first (known that is) offence, although he was done DUI 3 times in 1 night and other offences that he was just never caught. And people wonder why they get robbed and murded in this world, know one really cares (that matters eg. judges, police & governments).

just as worrying that the bank accepted cheques that had been ‘tampered’ with.
