Albert Hall saved

As the ABC reports, turd polishing comes no finer than the NCA’s efforts to explain their big backdown on plans to turn the Albert Hall into some sort of resort-cum-mall.

“The direction and vision for the Albert Hall precinct was to encourage leisure tourism and entertainment uses and by making it very clear for Albert Hall itself that it can continue to be used for those current facilities or current uses, certainly still aligns with that overall vision”

Well maybe the polish would have been a little finer if a “strategic” could have been squeezed in there somewhere.

great…we can all sleep again!

They could certainly do more with Albert Hall than is currently happening. As a function centre, it hasn’t been very well marketed. It would be a better venue than the lake shore for winter night markets. It would be a great location for a childcare centre, given the wait lists for childcare centres in the city area. Maybe government offices, like the Department of Environment or the Federal folks responsible for heritage. Or – dare I say it – a library in the city area!
