The Canberra Times has the sad news that the missing Alex Beddows has been found dead in the Mississippi River.

Louisiana police believe Beddows, a Department of Climate Change employee who lived in Mawson, accidently fell into the swollen Mississippi River while walking to his hotel in the dark.

His body was found late last week, submerged in the dangerously flooded waters of the river a short distance from where Beddows was last thought to be seen.

Our condolences to his friends and family.

Sad news, I hope the family deal with it as best they can.

Well, we all missed the death notice.

Fair enough for most out there, but it is interesting that the Canberra Times can publish something in one part of their paper without noticing it is there.

Well, we all missed the death notice.

CT on the ball again…not. Alex’s death notice appeared in the CT print edition on Saturday morning clearly saying that he had drowned and giving the date of death as early May. The ad would have been booked Thursday or Friday or possibly earlier meaning the CT had the information at least three or four days before they finally put it on the website as news.

This might be the cyber age but The Canberra Times sometimes acts like they rely on carrier pigeons for their news.

That is sad. At least he has been found and can be returned to his family. Still sad though.

That’s dreadful news. Condolences to friends and family – he seemed like a very well thought of individual.

Very sad news. All the best to the family at such a difficult time.

Vale. Sad news.
