Alistair Coe the replacement for Big Bill?

The ABC has word that the former National Young Liberal President Alistair Coe is going to get the nod to take Bill Stefaniak’s empty place on the Ginninderra Liberal ticket.

I’m picking up ructions on Facebook suggesting this decision is not meeting universal applause.

Does anyone know anything more about Mr. Coe?

And don’t go saying anything you wouldn’t say to his face, possibly in front of a judge people.

The Libs seem to be doing an alphabet soup approach to advertising – eg: “Guilia with a G”. Now the Libs have an Alistair on board, they can offer an “A to Zed” of candidates.

If its the same person (looks like a pretty strong resemblance from the photo’s i could find) i was in the same year as his older brother James at Trinity Christian School.

I went to the same school as Alistair. He is alright bloke; but from what I remember he lacked some flair, but he doesn’t lack brains. But he has a few weeks to win me over!

Labour has Katey now the Libs have their wiz-kid – Alistair Coe.

Looks like a safe if boring choice.

Hopefully Troy will be running again in the near future.

Not this time it looks like, pitty!!!!!

Alistair and I have often found ourselves on differing sides of the ‘factional’ divide but he’s a decent bloke. If I lived up North I’d vote for him after voting for Matt Watts.

Actually I thought he was a former National VP of the Young Liberals.

I first met him when he was an up-and-coming soccer referee.

He presently works for the Returned and Services League of Australia as a Policy Officer.

He’s a Foundation Member of the A-League for Canberra so he’ll do me!

As a general rule, for anyone to make it to the top of either the young libs or young labor would have had to have sold their soul, friends and grandmother to get there. And probably climb over a large mound of knifed former friends and allies, so he’s not a person to be trifled with regardless of his appearance.
He was/is a dedicated supporter of Richard Mulcahy and Gary Kent – not sure whether this was/is to support his own ambitions or because he actually likes them.
In the pre-Mulcahy days he was a major player in the Klan faction of the YLs – once Mulcahy came along YL factions got very complicated so impossible to say where he sits these days (apart from the right of Attila the Hun)
