Chief Minister Stanhope has proudly launched an all singing and dancing Canberra BusinessPoint shopfront at 216 Northbourne Avenue.

Which is not exactly in the middle of the CBD:

The shopfront is a new addition to the Canberra BusinessPoint suite of services, providing a one-stop-shop for expert, impartial, guidance and support in business growth and development.

These services are being jointly delivered by the Canberra Business Council and Lighthouse Business and Innovation Centre.

Canberra Business Council will be providing targeted services for people thinking of starting a business and those in the early stages of running their business.

The Lighthouse Business and Innovation Centre will be focusing on businesses at a more advanced development stage and looking to go to the next level.

It will assist enterprises who are typically looking for support around innovation strategy, advanced commercialisation activities, business sustainability and growth financing.

Advice on innovation strategy, advanced commercialisation activities, business sustainability and growth financing from ACT public servants whose only previous exposure to the world or business is to buy their lunch from it.

Save your time and join the Chamber of Commerce.

On top of this, there is a fair degree of evidence out there that people who end up taking time out of their day and physically going to places like Business Point, to ask a whole bunch of questions more easily answered on the 24/7 Information Superhighway, just so they feel better about their lack of success, are really not in possession of the aggressive drive and innovative disposition that is frankly required for successful business operation in this country anyway. One might think of leading horses to water, but instead of horses, it’s sillyheads, and instead of water, it’s rates.

On top of this, if your business is frankly shithouse, surely there’d be no better time to tell someone than at the initial stages. Just another service which I am sure your invariable Business Point desk trainee will simply not appropriately provide.

Well no one is picking up the phone at this new Canberra BusinessPoint shopfront
