lake burley griffin signage

Pantsman has sent in this sign offering very affordable garbage disposal for a big load with the following note:

This sign appears to have fallen through all three levels of government. Don’t know if it a Stanhope, NCA, or Commonwealth ‘s fault. We’ll need an inquiry / taskforce to get this sorted.

Then again, you might be a government policy guy who has just over egged the propaganda pudding.

Steady on… explain to me what is propaganda-ish about digital TV. And no, not in policy. I just like messing around with tech. Not that finding the set-up menu, selecting “ACT” (as you do in good, new STBs) and pushing “go” can be considered “tech”.

You are kidding aren’t you? How did you ever manage to hook up a VCR? I have bought at least five set-top boxes for myself and various family members, all installed and operating flawlessly. And honestly, we’ve all known since the year 2000 that analog was to switch off at some point. A decade is time enough to learn something new.

Your relo’s are lucky to have someone with your expertise. Kinda proves my point that set top boxes are not a simple plug and play option.

That’s not an old sign, it’s Jon’s latest public sculpture you philistine rednecks!

Maybe it has something to do with Heritage Week.

What he said. My old not-flat-screen is going strong. As puggy said, what is the difference between one and a VCR, apart from the fact it has a digital rather then analogue tuner?

One non-flat screen TV greater than 54 cm costs $40. Given it is government policy which has made them redundant (yet to hear of anyone who has got a set top box to work properly) dumping them in the lake might be a good option (out of sight out of mind).
