The Canberra Raiders have made a statement about what they’re doing with star player Blake Ferguson as he awaits trial:

Canberra’s Blake Ferguson will be required to undertake an extensive alcohol management program during which time he will not be considered for selection.

The Raiders Board has determined the action today after the club met with Ferguson in Canberra following his dismissal from the NSW State of Origin camp.

The NRL will review Ferguson’s progress with the club after a four-week period and assess his eligibility at that point.

Both the NRL and the Raiders will await the outcome of court proceedings to determine a final position in relation to a charge of Indecent Assault laid by NSW Police yesterday.

It seems a little odd. If he’s not guilty what is the problem they’re seeking to address?

Yeah …. that should fix him right up.

JB’s last sentence says it all. What if a court of law finds him not guilty?
Funny how a drink driver gets his or her punishment (lol) from the courts only but a footballer gets his punishment from both his employer and the courts.

What does that have to do with anything?

Blake Ferguson is a professional footballer. He gets paid a lot of money to play football & represent his code, club & sponsors (who pay his wage). The police interviewed both parties & upon reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, charged Ferguson with indecent assault.

And I bet the panel on NITV’s Barefoot Sports completely ignored this story.

It’s a shame children look up to these meat heads.

How many bloody times have the star NRL players been warned that inappropriate stupid behaviour will not be tolerated FFS.They are in the public limelight whether they like it or not so any disgusting behaviour like the strongly alleged groping/indecent assault incident is bloody serious and he should be suspended until the matter is heard particularly given his previous record.

Isn’t “naughty corner” downplaying the seriousness of the alleged misbehaviour? Not for trivialising please!

The trivial nature of the punishment is the point of emphasis
