ACT Policing arrested a 19-year-old man yesterday (Saturday, November 17) for a robbery which occurred in Weston in late October.

Police will allege the man was in company with another man when he entered the Kingsley’s Chicken store in Weston around 9.20pm on Wednesday, October 31.

One was armed with a machete and both had their faces covered. It will be alleged that the offenders stole a sum of cash and fled in a green Subaru Liberty sedan which had been reported stolen from Greenway earlier that day.

Police located some suspects around 30 minutes after the robbery and took them into custody, but released them pending further investigations. The stolen car was located in Chapman and police located several items, including the stolen cash drawer from the chicken shop, nearby. These items were seized as evidence.

A warrant was later executed on a Rivett home and a search of the premises found a machete hidden in a dog kennel.

Yesterday (November 17, 2012), the 19-year-old man attended Tuggeranong Police Station, was subsequently interviewed, arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, November 19).

Investigations into the robbery remain ongoing.
