Property Portal Watch have been crunching the numbers on real estate websites.

Canberra based Allhomes has done very well, coming in third on visits, but first for frequency of visit!

Well done them and another kick in the knees to the Fyshwick tree killers.

UPDATE 20/06/12 17:14: Allhomes have put out a release celebrating their numbers.

This must be how he justified doubling his prices the other day!

Unless that money is being invested in improving the site and making it more accessible through mobile devices I reckon they’ll be on a downhill slide from here. As good as it is to have the majority of local real estate listed on one site it is still pretty ugly, navigation is poor, and completely frustrating to use on a phone/tablet.

This is why Gina has no worries, will always be a few fossils around that just do not get this internet thing!

I must say I haven`t really used allhomes much on my phone or on a tablet but from a PC it`s pretty much perfect. Navigating around couldn`t be any simpler and who cares if it`s a bit ugly. It works very well as is.

Have you tried the iphone app? Super simple to navigate.

Allhomes is great, especially now that they changed it so it doesn’t refresh the whole page when you look through the pics on a property.

One thing that annoys me ALOT on Realestate.com.au is you have to know the suburb or region in order to do a search. You can’t just search say, the whole of Sydney, for properties under $500K. Really annoying if you just want to suss out what’s available and where, within a certain price range.

Have to say that I occasionally go to realestate.com or something similar in other states and I find compared to AllHomes that they are really hard to look at. AllHomes does seem to have it down pat.

The way the site works is just so convenient, and smart. It’s great to be able to look at everything all lined up in the order you put it, rather than have to go futzing around multiple sites… and those agency sites, YUCK.

Could it be the more affluent market that it serves? Or the possibility that many APS staff use it to dreamily wander during the day?

No, the last is not a dig; simply a statement that the website is consistently one of the more frequently visited sites at a number of departments. So much so that some are considering blacklisting it as a time waster.

Most departments have too many grads in rental properties for that to work unless they unblocked it during the grad entry periods.
Also I seriously hope not where I work it’s an amazingly useful tool for work in the ACT especially when we weren’t allowed near map anymore

One has to admit. Allhomes is pretty good.

Prices are not that good

Third across Australia? That’s amazing!
