The insurance broking industry is about to celebrate its best and brightest at the Insurance Business Australia Awards. Finalists were announced earlier this month, and it’s a sign you’re doing something right as a business when you and your team are named as finalists in six categories.

In fact, almost all Canberra’s finalists can be found at the one insurance broking firm – allinsure – and it’s the only insurance broking house in Canberra ever to feature as finalists since they were named Australia’s Best Brokerage in 2016.

This year they’ve been recognised for excellence for Best Customer Service by a Brokerage; Best Brokerage 6-20 staff; Community Service Program; Tate Harris for Young Gun for Brokerages 1-19 staff; and both Peter Chamberlain and Tate Harris are finalists in the Broker of the Year Authorised Rep Category.

Customer service is key to their success.

The allinsure office uses technology to enable better face-to-face customer service, says allinsure Managing Director Peter Chamberlain.

“Using technology, data and innovation is a part of what we do,” says Chamberlain, “but only to ensure we can help service our customers in better and faster ways.”

Within half an hour of the Canberra hailstorm which damaged so many cars and properties, the team at allinsure hit the phones. They proactively made contact with all people in the damage zone who had insured through the business, ensuring they knew who to contact, how to make a claim and their entitlements under their policy.

The award nominations reflect this commitment to customers.

“To be nominated as a finalist is a brilliant recognition of what we do, on a daily basis,” he says.

“It’s a fantastic acknowledgement of the amazing team we’ve put together. It recognises the work of the entire team, even when it’s an award for an individual.”

The company also believes in giving back to the community they serve.

Everyone at allinsure gets four days off each year to volunteer with a non-profit organisation – it’s even written into their conditions of service.

allinsure also has an extensive corporate giving program with many beneficiaries in the Canberra community sector such as CBR Brave, R U OK, The Starlight Ball, The Kids Cancer Project, Pegasus Riding for the Disabled, Raize the Roof, the Canberra Demons, Lifeline Canberra and the Insurance Advisernet Foundation.

“The two awards we’re most proud of being finalists for are those for Best Customer Service and the Community Awards,” says Chamberlain. “There were thousands of nominations for those categories Australia-wide, and to be named as finalists is really something.”

Young Gun nominee Tate Harris said being recognised by his peers at a national level provides reinforcement and further confidence in the advice and service he provides back to his clients.

“Being a finalist has helped me build business relationships, and helped to build trust with the wider public,” says Harris. It also helps build networks across Australia, that helps me to help my clients, providing sound expert advice to protect their businesses.”

Winners will be announced on Friday, 1 May in Sydney.
