rat patrol

Amanda F***ing Palmer (ex of Dresden Dolls) is doing a “ninja gig” tomorrow night as part of a rat patrol ride.

Be in Garema Place on a bicycle at 7pm and bring your swimmers. Mr Fibby will be involved too.

It’s going to be a thing.

UPDATE: If you’ve got images or video send them in to images@the-riotact.com .

This was so awesome. My housemate and I cycled ~35km total to get there and back, including the group ride from O’Connor to Aspen Island, and were dripping wet about 80% of the time.

Of the many videos I took, three worked out really well.

got some great photos from the gig tonight. shame i didnt get any of the bike ride!

Just got back after a long, wet ride home.

Nothin’ like horizontal rain and the looming threat of 150-odd people being hit by lightning to bring the rock. The delightful Ms Palmer is a trooper (and plays a mean carillon).

Kudos to all involved.

do we show up and get told of the final rendezvous point?

I’ll take a water bottle to the show with me. You should be able to get all the memories you want from it.

I hope someone’s will post pictures …

But normal bikes are welcome. or even rollerskates, unicycles, scooters, or skateboards.

What about us poor inadequate types who have just a “normal” bike, or even no bike at all? Do we still get to see Ms F***ing Palmer and Mr Fibby? i.e. do we show up and get told of the final rendezvous point?

Well you could have bought a ticket to see her show last night.

Or you could buy a bike at the tip for $20 and pump up the tires.

Or come down to Garema Place at 7 and ask the crazy bike people where the show is.

Or I dunno, use some initiative if you really care?

…and FWIW – Johnboy you seem pretty excited about this one.

Amanda Palmer? Freakbikes? What’s not to like?

See y’all there!

That’s a really long way to fall. Guaranteed broken bones if you did :/ The pink one on the other hand is just fabulous 😀

I’ve seen a few stacks, not a broken bone amongst them.

Or come on the ride and see for yourself.

I am sure this is a FAQ, but how do those guys with the ‘double height’ bikes get on and (particularly) off? And what happens when they need to cross a road and there are lots of cars and no handy trees to hang on to?

well one climbs down and climbs up, they’re very stable when they’re rolling, resting against poles is also a common tactic.

Damn, Port Macquarie is nice but missing a Rat ride is a shame … Sorry, I’ll do the next one.
