Amateur jam sessions in Canberra pubs

Does anyone know of any amateur musician jam sessions at Canberra’s pubs that anyone can rock up to? Used to be a very good one at Filthy McFaddens on a Sunday afternoon many years ago now. I would love to go along and get involved once again, so any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks

And for the trolls amongst us (trolls, oh no sir, there are no trolls here, only providers of relevant witty commenture) I don’t mean the type of jam that one might put on their toast/bread/gon*ds/peanut butter sandwiches etc 😉 though if you do have a good recipe for marmalade I’d be interested to hear that too

Thanks Ivy, PM and Stratomaster for your replies, I will get along and check things out. The Mondayitis Cabaret looks fantastic, though I suspect more professional and accomplished than my abilities and talents but I will definitely check out one of the shows soon, are there likely to be tickets at the door for the 13th of August?

The Canberra Blues Society have a monthly jam on second sunday of each month. This sunday is the next jam I believe. It’s held @ The Statesman in Curtin. Also there is ‘The Pro Blues and Roots Jam’ held 1st sunday of each month at the Germo in Narabundah. Tex Clarke runs it I think. The Pot Belly in Belco have a muso’s night each Thursday.

The Pot Belly, The Phoenix and I believe even the George Harcourt have open-mic nights. Turn up and you’ll meet a few who would be interested. A number of venues would be willing to host a jam session.

Hey Toast,

I don’t know about Jam sessions but Mondayitis Cabaret (http://facebook.com/MondayitisCabaret) are always looking to expand their talent base with new performers.
