A 30-year-old Weston man has been arrested for burglary yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, September 27) in Waramanga.
About 4.40pm a Waramanga male resident saw a man acting suspiciously leaving a neighbours house on a bike with a backpack.
The neighbour approached the man and asked if he lived at the residence. The alleged offender replied no at which point the neighbour tried to prevent him from getting away and called the police.
A short time later, another male member of the public helped the neighbour restrain the alleged offender until police arrived.
Two residences in the area reported burglaries and stolen items matching the descriptions of those reported were found on the alleged offender.
The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and one count of going equipped for burglary. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, September 28).
