Anaethetists want more money to be on-call

400,000. Try 600,000.
there’s about 30 of them that work there. On-call once a month, paid about 200$ for each 20minute “unit of service” you porvide. Does that seem so hard?

Yeah I guess $400,000 a year is a bit tight so Id be asking for more allowances as well. Have to pay for the S class Merc some how.

But as I said, I have no problems at all with the wonderful caring midwifes and doctors at either hospital, they are such great people. I don’t in any way want this to appear that I have anything bad to say about them, as we don’t…

It’s the dickhead management of Calvary, or LCoM who couldn’t give two hoots about the very women and their newborns that they are in existance to provide for.

Don’t worry, I will be following this up formally with the hospital in due course.

I don’t want our experience to be the norm.

Geez – are you paying private rates for this treatment??

My wife had our baby on Tuesday, and went into labour at almost 6PM. We called up Calvary John James Hospital (CJJH – this is its new name BTW), and they said they can’t admit her cos of this, and to to go Canberra Hospital (TCH). So we had the bub there.

The next day I drove them to CJJH.

What sucks is that she cannot use the full CJJH amenities due to infection prevantion controls with MRSA (think in terms of golden staph, or other things that cannot be killed easily) – standard practice when another patient transfers into a hospital. Until the swabs come clear, she cannot use the nursery or many other things.

Now this is not bad for us as it’s not our first baby, but for a new mum this would be devastating, kept away from the places they may need help the most ie the nursery and the breast pumps there.

CJJH management deserve a rocket up them for not even arranging for the booked in mums-to-be to get a phone call advising there *may* be problems being admitted if after hours and to prepare yourselves to go to Calvary or TCH.

They are ignoring the issue, and the ones who cop it are the mums, their new bubs and our families supporting them. Wankers.

The midwives and doctors in both hospitals we went to were brilliant, so cannot fault them. Our beef is with the management of CJJH and their head in the sand attitude.
