And the Leader of the Canberra Liberals is... Jeremy Hanson

Zed Seselja’s media advisor Emily Davis has announced there will be a press conference at 2pm.

(Yes exactly who is making the call is possibly significant)

Keep your eyes posted.

UPDATE: Jeremy Hanson is the leader, Alistair Coe as deputy.

It does make one wonder what Senator Humphries was playing at when he convinced the Canberra Times Alistair Coe was a shoe in.

Trying to throw Jezza under a bus to bolster a sense of panic in the party?

Whether it is mad-made or natural or a combination of both is up for conjecture and whether or not we can actually do anything about it is also a point of contention.

Your belief in some sort of “conjecture” are not backed by fact but obviously derive from a bullshit-detector failure when reading nonsense propagated by lobbyists and cranks.

So ALL climate change is man-made?

Just in case you’ve been “reading widely” like Hanson has obviously been doing, here is where you can go to get back on solid ground:

http://www.csiro.au/resources/Climate-is-changing

and

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/change/

In other words, ignore the cranks and lobbyists and stick with the facts.

These sources don’t refer to climate change as being only ‘man-made climate change’, as you alluded to in your previous post.

The reality is that the climate is indeed changing, and some of this is ‘man-made’. Certainly not all.

No, only the climate change caused by man is man-made.

Duh.

JH was a grunt in a past life, and from what I can gather via Google he was a pretty good one. I’d vote for him on that basis alone (and I’ve voted Labor all my life), whereas I wouldn’t vote for a slack and idle tool like Zed in a million years.

If Hanson is as organised and together as most of the professional soldiers I’ve known, and if he can stay out of the clutches of the religious loonies who appear to dominate much of the Liberal party, the next ACT government will be Liberal. The poor sad Labor mob won’t know what hit them.

Zed is a complete tool.

I’ve met and talked to Hanson. Seems a reasonable bloke and yes, he, like me, was once a grunter…

Got to give the guy credit for that.

Sadly, you also have in common with Hanson your backward beliefs on climate change.

I’m not actually sure his views on climate change are? However, if they are the same as mine then he must realise that climate change is real and is happening. Whether it is mad-made or natural or a combination of both is up for conjecture and whether or not we can actually do anything about it is also a point of contention.

Having said that, there is no doubt that we need to reduce pollution as well as our reliance on fossil fuels.

Apart from that, your point is?

In fact, in an interview in the Chronicle last year, both JH and SD stated that yes, climate change is real and needs real action.

That’s the opposite of what they were saying on Tuesday morning to Ross Solly.

From memory, Hanson’s train of nonsense went something like,
– there’s a range of ideas
– Scientists aren’t agreed
– I read very widely on this
– nothing we do would make any difference anyway

Which pretty much demonstrates he isn’t up to the task of developing evidence-based policy.

Intelligent and Articulate!!! Is this a joke? He’s trashed the health system, trashed the nurses and doctors who work in the health system and told Meredith Hunter her policies were up her arse, amongst other things. I look forward to him being a bit more of a doer rather than a knocker. I also look forward to a little more policy detail instead of sniping from the sidelines.

The comment re Meredith Hunter sounds pretty intelligent and articulate to me: accurate and succinct, no weasel words or management speak.

This reply says it all about the type of person who supports and votes for Jeremy Hanson

What are you on? Your comment does not make any sense.

You haven’t run across Kim before, have you? 🙂

What utter crap.

Jeremy is a great choice – a down to earth genuine guy with a good head on his shoulders.

Madam Cholet6:43 pm 11 Feb 13

Um, KimBelco, I’m wondering if we are talking about the same person. JH is In opposition. He may say things that you don’t agree with, but he hasn’t actually done anything to the health system. No. Our fair government and the good lady KatieG has done that on her own. No help required, apart from total support from The Greens that is.

themetresgained5:55 pm 11 Feb 13

Gary was probably under the impression that being endorsed by Zed would mean the rest of the MLAs would back him, with the exception of Hanson, Smyth and maybe Doszpot. He obviously spoke of the demise of his own faction too soon. Hanson is the only choice really.

even by the (low) standards of the CT that was pretty partisan commentary. almost needed a written and authorised at the end

Having totally cocked up this morning the CT’s Lisa Cox is now passing on Katy Gallagher’s riding orders to the new leader.

Overjoyed that the Libs have realised the damaging waste of space that is Smyth. His grovelling to the Blumers and their legal mates to ensure the ACT has the highest TPI in Australia must surely have raised serious alarm bells regarding his suitability as a representative for his wider constituancy.

I was astounded that he even got back in.

There a definitely worse liberals than Hanson that’s for sure. 4 years of Coe would have left the Liberals on life-support come the next election.

I do wonder how the caucus vote went though; assuming Jones, Zed and Dunne voted for Coe – I only list those because they’re each as bat-sh%t and useless as each other.

I for one am relieved the Territory avoided the self-inflated-arrogance and populist crap of Coe.

Maybe the CT was reporting Coe as the likely winner because that was the noise coming from the Liberals themselves, in particular a one Mr Humphries.

Anyway cannot believe I am going to say this but certainly a good choice. Coe is a complete and utter tool in the same way as Zed.

Now this whole thing got me thinking, I reckon Zed’s chances of knocking over Humpries is probably low, so I wonder if this whole thing is just a charade to get a new leader without it looking like there is strife amongst those in the assembly.

A good start. Now they just need to find someone who can make the people of Tuggeranong forget about the previous bloke…

If you’d met Jeremy in person, you’d know that I’m telling the whole truth. A Labor mate of mine SMS’d to say that they were in real trouble with Jeremy at the helm of the Libs.

The Liberals are real contenders in 2016 now. Jeremy’s balanced views, great work ethic and ability to talk like a normal human being will put us in good stead.

LOL at the Canberra Times.

How bad are they at predicting political matters?

thebrownstreak693:25 pm 11 Feb 13

A good outcome. Jeremy Hanson is the only sensible choice.

CT cannot be trusted on anything report in relation to the Canberra Liberal’s. They are sooo dependant upon the advertising dollar of the pokies funded Labor party. Lets not forget their front pages campaign in the days before the election last year that Zed’s support was only 26% compared to Katy’s at 58%. Zed ended up with a higher vote than Katy!! Their coverage of local politics is totally and utterly biased and not worthy of the name journalism.

Canberra Times has been backtracking even before the announcement. First headline declared Coe would be leader, then it was changed to may be the new leader because of a deal.

Should really stop making prediction on local politics, they can’t blame hare-clarke this time. Hanson was always the favourite.
