Andrew Heath walks off into the sunset

The ABC brings word that the Canberra Liberal’s Director Andrew Heath has called it a day.

Mr Heath took up the post in April 2007 and will step down from the role next month.

Mr Heath previously worked for the former Federal Member for Eden-Monaro Gary Nairn and Senator Gary Humphries.

There seems to be a lot of movement at the station. It’s a good time to do it.

UPDATED: Gary Humphries office has been in touch to correct the ABC quote:

Mr Health worked for the Hon. Gary Nairn, but did not work for Senator Humphries – however oversaw his campaign in 2007 as the Divisional Director of the Party at the time.

I’d say that Heath walked before being pushed. He didn’t get a long with his President or her dictatorial leadership and clumsy management style. It didn’t help that Heath didn’t fair too good at the last election either. I wonder who will be the next bunny to take on the job?

Nice work Phantom, you have got that pretty right. Couple of descriptors you left out re there President. Egomaniacal, ineffective & insidious.

The current President Winnifred Rosser is just a female version of the last little Hitler they had there Gary Kent. What’s that wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing you say.

She has been dumped by the Wets for doing deals with the right behind their back, and becoming one of Zeds mouth pieces. It’s quite sickening watching her around Zed, it’s a reverse Oedipus complex (Shudder). Let’s hope the rubber gloves extend to the elbow.

As to the new Bunny – one guess, with Rosser and a Right wing management committee making the decision (sorry – read Zeds chief of Staff Steven Doyle) it will be someone that he can control, bit like a puppet really.

I can guarantee it will not be a transparent process like Rosser said her Presidency would be about. She has had numerous behind the scenes meeting, some quite subversive from what I understand. She has stabbed the departing Director in the back to a number of people.

I understand that Canberra Grammar have employed her in a fundraising role – good luck with that she could only do better for them after her disaster of a year fundraising for the Libs and helping put them in a $80,000 hole.

Hey JakeZ I don’t think that this is a very good position do you.

All is good in Cairns, I’d forgotten what green grass looked like.

That said, with Carney settling in things could change. The headline in today’s Cairns Post:

“Welcome to Cairns, Carney. We hope we enjoy your stay”.

I hope that’s the only mention of wee :-p

CSRI, that’s all correct. However you can hardly blame the Director for the crapfight that happened before his time.

To suggest a rat is deserting a sinking ship does not apportion blame for the state of the ship onto the rat.

If anything it is a backhanded compliment to Mr Heath – at least he is smart (or should that be cunning – given the whole rat reference?) enough to know that it is time to get off.

He never “worked” for Senator Humphries. He did help run his last campaign?

How’s life in Cairns Troy?

Hmmmn, didn’t the Liberal vote go backwards at the last Assembly election? A massive swing against a Labor government that was on the nose and the main opposition party had a swing against them?

Rats, ship, sinking.

The Director’s role at the Canberra Liberals is akin to that of a Circus Ringmaster. He may book the acts, but can’t tell the clowns which way to jump.

I agree with Jakez, in the circumstances the administration is in pretty good shape and heath arguably deserves much of the credit.

It’s just that the entertainment staff seem to love playing the parts of clowns?

The email from the Party to the members was brief:

CANBERRA LIBERALS DIRECTOR TO MOVE ON

The Canberra Liberals would like to announce to our membership that our Director, Mr. Andrew Heath, will be resigning from his role, which he has held since April 2007.

During Mr. Heath’s tenure he has overseen the successful re-election campaign of Senator Gary Humphries in November 2007and the our 2008 ACT election campaign.

The Canberra Liberals wish to extend our gratitude to Mr. Heath for his dedicated service and wish him well for the future.

He will finish up as Director on the 20th March 2009 and will be taking up an employment opportunity outside of politics.

Good luck to him, if he gets some work and life experiences outside the warm bosom of the party he might make a good pollie…
