Another Canberra Time Lapse

2013 has been a great year for time-lapse videos of Canberra (I’ll buy a pint for anyone who can parody the form).

Doubleconvex has brought a late entry to the pack:

Visit http://www.doubleconvex.com for more on how I make these time-lapse short films.

I’m of the opinion that the Capital of Australia doesn’t get enough promotion. When people talk about Australia, they think about Sydney, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Gold Coast. Melbourne gets a mention because of its position as the sporting capital of the world. Canberra never, ever gets mentioned… which is a bit of a shame, because it has a lot going for it as a tourist destination.

I personally really like Canberra. Its well organised, easy to get to, and has lots to take into if you are into discovering what makes the nation tick. I took a two day and three night trip up to our nation’s capital to capture what it has to offer. Here it is… all under three minutes.

This short film has been made from 7,602 individually shot frames that were photographed over a period of three days. The music is a piece that I procured from Envato. The time lapse sequences were captured using two cameras – a Canon 5D Mark II with a 17-40mm lens, and an Olympus E-PL5 using a Rokinon 8mm fish-eye lens. 12 hours of rendering and post-processing work went into the creation of this final video.

Its a nice video, my only gripe with it, is some of the scenes were not shot in the greatest of weather conditions. Some of the better timelapse movies i’ve seen tend to take weeks/months to get the best possible sequences.

Lovely work.

I’m currently setting up a film festival and awards night to celebrate the art of Time Lapse film making – and it will be held in Canberra. (I’m searching for the perfect venue at the moment for the festival and awards night…)

Cheers,

Ha ha I read the title and expected an article about “another lapse by the Canberra Times” …

Excellent!
