News.com.au has the unfortunate news of another Canberra registered car has been invloved in a fatal crash somehwere between Braidwood and Bungendore. Details are sketchy at this point.

Please take it easy this summer folks when belting back from the Coast. Rushing back to Canberra doesn’t seem like that crash hot of an idea if you ask me.

always get the dickheads on teh clyde that hoon past you because your doing 40 to 60 – then a few minutes later you all get stuck behind the same truck.

One time (when I was much younger) I was driving from campbeltown to thirroul and (the road is excellent – dual carriageway most of the way). I was in my laser hatch and going what I thought was a reasonable speed – but then i got brake fade – thats scary. So now – regardless of the car I am in I always go a reasonable pace down hills like the clyde – try to keep braking to a minimum and drive to teh conditions – if that means going 40 to 60 – then thats fine. Its not about what time you get to your destination – its about actually getting there. If your in a rush – leave earlier – dont be a menace on our roads.

Does anyone remember the crash with the grandparents? Their grandchildren were able to escape by climbing out the rear window?

I drove on the Kings HWY that day. It was raining and the road was as slippery as hell.

People were still speeding, fishing tailing and barely correcting.

Even at 80kms it was hard to see. I pulled into my driveway and then heard the news on the radio.

Makes you wonder if they were “scared” by the dickheads doing 120kms in the wet and lost concentration…..

well if they came out of the car i think no seatbelt has to be the first assumption leapt to.

It’s a good road. But the people driving on it seem to think that a road has to be flat and straight. I guess they are being realistic, as most of them can’t do anything if the car slides or jumps or does something other than zoom along (with its nose planted in the next car’s arse more often than not).

Listened to the news reports fairly carefully. Apparently a Mazda 6 driven by a lady drifted to the wrong side of the road and collided with an oncoming truck, towing a horse float. The male passenger of the Mazda was apparently flung from the vehicle and was killed.

The Mazda apparently has a 6 airbag setup, covering driver, passenger and side impact. In the US these were developed to protect the totally thick citizens from precisely this type of accident as a result of their insistence that they could not be compelled to wear seat belts.

Speaking really softly, what went wrong here?

I hate driving on that road – too many idiot Canberrans with poor driving skills.

My favourite bit of driving on the Kings HWY are all the P-platers doing 100+kms around the bends.

Like they have the experience to do that. Hell I wouldn’t and I’ve been driving for over 10 years.

Then there are the impatient arseholes from Bungendore to the top of the Clyde who speed past you (doing the speed limit) and abuse you for “taking your time”.

I’d like to see more coppers on that road….but it won’t happen.

my public service commodore is better than your public service commodore !

Fully agree with Thumper!… please drive carefully, its never easy being called to the scene of a car accident!

living in canberra i dread seeing these reports.

I hate driving on that road. Its a death trap.

Rual roads and ACT drivers don’t mix!

I feel like people driving Commodores compete with the Falcon drivers to see how can be the biggest dick driving on that road.

Guys….your all winners in my book!
