Subject: taser in palmerstonMessage Body:
hi,
i was a witness to the tasering in palmerston on saturday night and i am appalled by your members comments on the story, the full story was not reported in the canberra times and it is discusting that your members feel that they have any right whatsoever to say that a person should have been shot and calling them a junkie, which in fact they are not. And that is slander. In fact the paramedics tackled the man in question and had him in a leg lock forcing his head into a gutter when they had been alerted to the fact he had recently had an operation on his knees, the police officers also tasered the man while he was in handcuffs on the ground posing no threat to anyone, the officer attempted to taser him three times, with the first hitting another officer.

Its the ambos! flap! run!
I pity those such as our dear friend who was made to do the electric boogaloo who get caught by the ambos and forced to punch on with them in some strange government sponsored fight club before being handcuffed and bundled off to hospital for treatment.
Watch out for those shifty firies too… people go to sleep, they think everything’s good, everything’s fine but they wake up the next morning and they’re on fire.
Made my night. Thank you very much.

Maybe the government has set them a quota every shift?
If they don’t treat enough people they lose their funding.
I’m sure all the other witnesses will back your story champ and the video download from the taser (which the ombudsman will see) will also back up your claim.
Tell your mate/brother/cousin not to be such a tool to the ambos next time they are there trying to help him. Pack of inbred half wits.

You know that means someone said “hey guys – leave him alone, he’s just had a knee operation” and the ambo crew crash tackled him to the ground for the fun of it. Yeah roight.
Maybe I’ll ask my ambo mates to find the officers on duty at that call out and ask THEM the third side of the story shall we?

Without wanting to comment on this particular case, I seem to recall that we were told when Tasers were introduced that they’d only be used in cases where otherwise firearms would have been required. I don’t think that if the Taser wasn’t available a firearm would be used on someone in cuffs, would it?
So Jade, on a scale of 1-10, how do you think that went?

Exactly and here i was thinking that ambos are my heroes and they’re apparently resorting to leglocks and other shenanigans, bloody mongrels 🙂
Oh and Jade thanks very much for the laugh although perhaps next time you could enlighten us as to why ‘the man’ was behaving like a berserk animal and needed restraining?

Drumming up work? They do that sort of thing you know.
Pack of bastards the lot of them.
The additional information is no more the full story than the press release by ACT Policing.
I highly doubt that the ambos go around tackling people for the fun of it nor request urgent police assistance without reason.
Whether or not the person has had surgery on his knees recently is irrelevant if that person is a danger to themselves or others. Tackling them seems to be a reasonable course of action to attempt to restrain him from hurting people. Apparently it didn’t work and was still being violent and a taser needed to be used. Again sounds reasonable (alternatively they could have shot him or beat the crap through him). Being in handcuffs does not necessarily mean the person is subdued and thy can still be acting violently with other parts of their body.
If they were lying there still and compliant, you may have grounds for complaint.. Thoroughly the proper channels..
Lol why would the ambos tackle him?

To keep my faith in humanity in check, I took that as a pun on the comments section.
so do feel free to tell us why your friend assaulted an ambulance officer? What did he do that the ambos needed to call the cops on him?
That’s what we want to know.

agreed
… “with the first hitting another officer”
that has so brightened this rather dreary day……
I suspect there’s even more to this story than the original post and Jade’s post above. Leaving aside the issue of police tasering, I still can’t support the person’s actions in threatening and assaulting ambos and police. Why should the ambos have to be careful of the guy’s tender knees if they’re under assault? How about the guy does the right thing in the first place and not assault people who are being paid to care for the community?
