Another traffic infringement notice scam

ACT Policing has today issued another warning against scam traffic infringement notices, this time for “irresponsible driving a car.”

Morning Canberra,

It would seem that the scammers are at it again with another version of the email traffic infringement notice doing the rounds.

For the LOL’s, we received this email from the scammers this morning telling us this time it was a ‘traffic violation notice’ for ‘irresponsible driving a car’. Last time we checked, there is no such offence and we found the 10-day payment a bit rude.

The email originated from afp-traffic@sda-courier24.net.

If you receive the below email, or another version with ‘AFP’ or ‘Commonwealth of Australia’ branding or an email from the above address asking you to pay a traffic infringement notice, then please delete it. Please don’t contact Police, we are already aware of the scam. Don’t click on the links in the email, clicking a link could download a virus to your computer.

I hope they pay income tax on their “winnings”…

At least they’ve got the year right this time.

If nothing else the grammar is in character. 😉

Yep. Looks completely legit apart from the option to opt-out of receiving traffic infringement notices from the police in future.

Fools and their money…

If you are honestly simple enough to fall for any of these kinds of things, you are beyond help.

“irresponsible driving a car”?

Just like the young bloke I saw doing 70-80 through a school zone this morning.
