Anti Terror law protest to come to Canberra

By Thumper 24 November 2005 13

It would appear that we are to get a protest. This time against the anti terror legislation being muted by the current federal government. (SMH Coverage here)

Not surprisingly the usual suspects will be involved including my favourite oxygen thief Bob Brown. And don’t be surprised to see that great protector of human rights (when it suits him), Mr Stanhope, to be there in the masses bristling with indignation and spraying angry words left right and centre to any news crew that happens to be passing.

Organiser James Crafti, from the ACT Network Opposing War, said the aim of the rally was to put pressure on the Senate to block the laws.

That is all nice and good Mr Crafti but it won’t do one iota of good. The laws will be rubber stamped by the Senate before you can say suicide bomber.

Pity I don’t work that side of the pond these days as I’d go for a stroll and observe the mayhem that will undoubably ensue.

Frankly I’d rather see a massive anti IR reform protest outside Parliament House.

What’s Your opinion?

For anyone interested, ACTNOW’s website has the details of the protest.

I may or may not turn up with a camera.

It has been mooted that the muted anti-terror legislation will remain mute for not much longer. I think it’s a moot point.

you see the problem is im opposed to the legislation, but i support the military action that aust has taken.

so can i march in support of one thing when all around me the unwashed of resistance will be dancing around with their multi message placards ?

this is how you lose support.

perfect example though of how you have to believe in x in order to be y to these softhead buffoons.

I was just going to try and get JB to hold the placard and take photos…

I maintain that somewhere there should be a picture of a camel, possibly in blue, white and gold.

BTW JB, want to hold the placard ?

Yep, and I bet Resistance will be there with 300 placards protesting about everything from battery farming to flouride in drinking water!

Thumper, I was hoping to see a mass protest at Parliament House about the IR laws too.

Another excercise of ineptitude. Time to crack out the bango playing hippie attracting bulldozer.
