The ABC reports the ANU has decided to help the student union provide services in the new era of VSU that dawned last Saturday.

ANU’s student services director, Tim Becket, said the uni will give $1 million to assist with the provision of services that they think are “essential just to keep the sense of university community alive”. He said this would include helping clubs and societies, a legal aid service and assistance for international students.

He said students would see price increases for some facilities, such as the gym and sports grounds, which had been administered by the union in the past.

I hope that none of this money ends up being spent on sending student politicians on junkets around the countryside.

As for the International Socialists – they can piss off!

no doubt the international socialists already have their begging bowl out.

lets hope the proust society get some funds this year.

I await Market Day next year with interest. This year seemed to fall a bit flat to me, hopefully this will be enough to save the clubs and societies scene.
