The Canberra Times brings word that ANU’s long war against Aon Risk Services has ended in a victorious undisclosed settlement.

The Australian National University has spent eight years suing global insurance giant Aon Risk Services in the ACT Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia over $27 million it claimed it was owed after the destruction of its MtStromlo scientific installations in the 2003 bushfires.

The settlement amount is shrouded in secrecy but the university is understood to be ”pleased” with the figure the insurance-broking multi-national has agreed to pay.

This should at least free up the court list a bit.
