Any harmony singers out there?

Hi there

I sing in a choir and used to sing for several years in an acappella trio I started back in 1994 with people I met at a gospel singing workshop with Tony Backhouse. This group is now defunct, but my love of singing harmonies with like-minded people isn’t!

I’m interested in taking songs and re-rendering them (ie For the Right Time by the Hoodoo Gurus as a slow blues piece), but am also interested in folk, songs from the 40s and 50s, blues, jazz, even a bit of country. Anything from Powderfinger to David Gray.

I’d like to get together with some people who can hold a tune and harmonise to scat, improvise, jam – whatever – with a view to starting another acappella trio or even quartet, possibly with percussion thrown in.

Any takers? Please call me on 0411 952 598.

cheers
Virginia
PS If anyone has any ideas about how I can find some fellow singers who’d like to perform, please let me know. I’ve seen the ad for singers wanted, but I don’t necessarily want to sing in a band, and harmony singing is my great love!

Ah, Virginia. A woman after my own heart (and vocal chords). I hope your phone’s been ringing off its hook…. not that mobile phones have hooks.

Yes, yes, maybe, could be and yes.

And that’s your lot since it’s past the witching hour, but I’ll call later today.

This town is awash with chanteurs of all walks and ilks and bents and I’ve got links with more folkies than you can point a bodhran at.

Don’t think about that too long — ‘pointing the bodhran’ is not some form of Celtic curse, and let’s face it, how the hell do you point something that’s round??!!

Where was I? Ending this post.

Later.
