Anyone know a typewriter (manual) mechanic in Canberra?

I need to consult a typewriter mechanic – someone who can look at a 1950s machine and fix it. Or sell me another one perhaps …
Perhaps Rioters could give me any leads in Canberra or environs, say within 100 km?
If not, perhaps someone could be recommended who would be happy to run a service by post.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone! Much appreciated. Lizw, would love to contact your father but not sure how we can exchange contacts without inviting stalkers or spam! Perhaps the moderators would pass on the details.
Cheers

The guy who programs the cash registers knows how to fix old-style typewriters.

email Robert Messenger at the Canberra Times. He’s a collector, and he’ll know.

My father used to fix them many years ago. Although he lives out of town, I could ask him if he’d be willing to have a look at it next time he’s visiting (late March).

Robert Messenger at the Canberra Times is an avid typewriter collector. He should be able to point you in the right direction.

Robert Messenger at the Crimes is one of Australia’s biggest typewriter collectors.

He’s got hundreds, if not thousands, and routinely gives away/sells those surplus to requirements.

He also fixes broken machines.

Give him a call.
