I really could’nt be effed ordering a ‘Chant Kit’ with a CD and little booklet to learn Gregorian Chant.

Hence, anyone know who/where I could learn this ancient form of singing in Canberra?

Cheers!

For chant in context you can’t beat the Latin Mass:

Free to listen in any Sunday.

Try the school of music, I had the “pleasure” of listening to some Gregorian chanting at a concert the schools chamber choir put on last year. I’m pretty sure they ran it.

Funny thing was I actually enjoyed the chanting more than the amateur choirs.

And when you have mastered this ancient form of religious crooning, where to with it?

Personally, I always loved the line from a D-Gen skit or was it simply MArtin/Malloy”

“Remember folks… if you drink and chant, you’re a bloody Jesuit!”)

Interesting idea.

One I hope not coloured by the somewhat less than authentic recording of group “Gregorian”, and their verging on hysterically funny “The Masters of Chant” series?

You could try this group.

I know they have a chanting group which performs at the annual get together at Easter, but whether any Canberra members (I believe they have a large group here) actually sing in it, I know not. Good luck.

Isn’t there a monastery nearby you could join?
