This in from the ESA:

8:15pm Thursday 8 July 2010 – Final update on apartment fire at Griffith Numerous Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls received from 7.23pm.

Extensive heat, water and smoke damage to unit.

Fire has been deemed suspicious and ACT Policing will carry out investigations into the cause.
7:55pm Thursday 8 July 2010 – Update on apartment fire at Griffith. Fire has been extinguished in a mattress in the bottom floor unit of the four storey building.

ACT Fire Brigade crews conducting ventilation of the stairwell.

Seven residents of the building have been evacuated.

Hazmat crews conducting air monitoring.

ACT Ambulance Service Intensive Care Paramedics on scene have treated one patient for minor smoke inhalation.
7:35pm Thursday 8 July 2010 – Apartment fire in Griffith ACT Fire Brigade on scene of a fire on the bottom floor unit of Stuart Flats, Light Street, Griffith. Update to follow.
