Are You Allowed to Help Dispose of the Body as Well?

The CT has this story on Queanbeyan woman, Teneeka Beaudean, avoiding gaol time even though being convicted for being an accessory after the fact to manslaughter, when she picked her brother up after he “alledgedly” killed Danny Ralph in Queanbeyan and helped him get away from the area.

She’s obviously watched enough CSI to know how to get rid of the evidence.

Oh look. The cyclist thread has set in the west, the registration thread is high in the sky, and so it is time for the jail/gaol thread to rise in the east. Your lucky numbers are 11 and 24.

It’s been a while since we bleated about live music venues, though. And about the humans rights aspect of the gaol.

And in case you think this is a recent debate, the OED offers this gem:

1668 R. L’ESTRANGE Vis. Quev. (1708) 6 Some again are..boring their very Noses with hot Irons, in rage that they cannot come to a Resolution, whether they shall say Face or Visage; whether they shall say Jayl or Gaol; whether Cony or Cunny.

It’s been spelled gayhol, gayll, gaille, gayole, gayl, gaile, gaiell, gaill, gaole, goale, goal, and gaol. It’s also been spelled iaiole, iaile, iayle, iayll, iaole, jayl, jale, and jail. All of these spellings have been used by the inhabitants of the British isles since the 13th and 14th centuries, before anybody without a Viking helmet had even heard of North America.

The difference has SFA to do with ‘British’ or ‘American’ English, much as this will pain those of you with the southern cross tattooed on your c.cks and who think nothing makes you a good Strayin like kicking Yanks. It’s a bloody French word, and the difference arised from differences in Northern or Norman French and that spoken in the south (Parisian French). The Norman ended up with a ‘G’, the Parisian with a ‘J’, and it’s the Parisian variant that survives today, with the ‘G’ version deemed ‘archaic’ and surviving only through statutory and official tradition.

So sayeth the OED. Suck it up.

aha ha ha ha….I am soooo using that….

The annoying thing is they’ll be making a vast fortune off the google ads on that page with something anyone *could* have done, if only they’d thought of it.

Note: “jail” is spelt J-A-I-L, not “gaol” which is pronounced “gay-oll”.

note…..http://piv.pivpiv.dk/

Jail is the only american spelling I will use. The pronounciation does not work correcrly with the spelling “gaol”, therefore I do not use it.

Anyway I’m surprised the verdict of this case has been released, it doesn’t do well for ensuring the main murder case is not prejudiced by the guilty plea and verdict.

GOLD!

Not wanting to get into the old Gaol/Jail thingy again I did a quick google and am happy to report that the spelling of nob and wanker hasn’t been challenged for quite a while.

Oh my God. Please tell me you are taking the piss.

Assist with murder and no gaol time – great.

I guess the pregnancy/kids angle is the approach taken by women if they can’t afford Anu Singh’s defence team and need bail (or is it baol?), suspended sentence or really short conviction

WRONG!

When did this happen?

Note that we live in Australia (pronounced “Oz”), not the United States of America (pronounced “do you have private medical cover”).

The spelling of “jail” was proposed by a known terrorist* sympathiser in his attempt to separate colonial English from the Imperial norm. The same for “color” and the plethora of “-ize” endings. Perhaps you are a terrorist yourself, if you believe that words are supposed to be spelt the way Noah Webster and his terrorist friends imposed.

*though most Americans will refer to George Washington and friends as “freedom fighters” or “patriots” – history written by the victor, etc.

Too much C.S.Oi

TTWBT!

Isn’t there a law in Queanbeyan that states that a family may dispose of 1 (one) body per annum free of charge, and free of any possible conviction?

As in, meet the Beaudean family – you’ll have a gay-oll time?

Why are my bones feeling a boat load of comedy and carnage is on its way, accompanied by duelling banjoes and whisilting whiskey bottles?

Note: “jail” is spelt J-A-I-L, not “gaol” which is pronounced “gay-oll”.

She’s already got one kid with two more on the way.
It would be wrong to take her away from her full time job of producing more Beaudean’s with great names.
Breed On Teneeka, Breed On.
