Are you ready for a change of Government?

The Herald Sun is running Trish Crossin’s take on her political execution by Prime Minister Gillard.

There are a few remarkable things in there.

It’s bizarre the Prime Minister’s Office wouldn’t have taken the trouble to find some role somewhere for a Senator surplus to requirements.

But perhaps most ominous for Canberra is the sense that Ms Gillard doesn’t seem to have much hope of winning the election in September:

Ms Crossin said Ms Gillard again insisted it was about her “legacy” as Labor leader.

I hope your change of government briefs are up to date. If not better get cracking.

If you’re trying to get a senator to go quietly basic competence would suggest providing them with a parachute.

So much messier to have to gun them down before chucking them out of the plane.

Exactly. Gillard seems like a smart and personable woman, but her lack of of political acumen is astounding. when I think of Ms G, the word “astute” does not spring to mind. I’ve been a lifelong Labor voter, but I just can’t see how I can vote for a mob who regularly appear so utterly inept. And then trying to pass it off with the whole bogan “captain’s pick” nonsense is even more unbelievable. The moron who came up with that unconvincing spin should be thrown to the wolves.

On the other hand, how could any sane person vote for Mr Abbott and his push? Or the ratbag greens?

We may live in interesting times however the political landscape is riddled with massive innumerable potholes and booby traps.

I’m also not convinced about the new choice. I hope they have sussed out whether she will be any good at the job.

Senator Nova Token-Perris…
As for being female and Aboriginal, she fits the bill. All she will be required to do is fill a seat and be trotted out to stand behind the PM and nod when there is an announcement that involves our Indigenous brothers. She might get a Parl Sec job just to show that the ALP leaders have confidence in her, as per Maxine McKew.

Has there been a celeb in the Aus parliament that has been successful? From Hubert Opperman to Garrett, they have proven mediocre at best, in Garretts case, generally useless.

Gillard is quite the executioner, she must have ice in her veins!

I think the requirement for ruthlessness basically goes with the job – Asquith, Churchill, Rab Butler, and probably others, are all said to have observed that a PM must be a “good butcher”. Of course, there is much more to that than just a cold-blooded lack of squeamishness – true dexterity with the knife is highly desirable, but (as here) not often in evidence in Gillard’s handiwork.

Snap. If it’s a choice between this hopeless Labor crew or Abbott, I don’t think I’ll turn up on election day. The Libs will still win with Abbott, but if they had the sense to put Turnbull in, Labor would be wiped out.

I doubt if being potentially ‘good at the job’ figured at all in Julia’s calculations.

It does seem a bit dim to just sack someone unexpectedly, offer them nothing at all, and not expect them to complain, and people to wonder about it. Not a very savvy move from Gillard.

I’m also not convinced about the new choice. I hope they have sussed out whether she will be any good at the job.

So the big, fat, never have to work again, pre-Latham pension is not enough?

Obviously not if they’re running again.

Maybe she is committed to public service… or not.

It’s a rare pollie who thinks they are unemployable in life after politics.

I wonder if the Hon Senator isn’t trying hard enough, hasn’t built a very good network of contacts (friends for favours…), or lacks basic skills and competencies. If any of this is so, she’s not much chop as a politician. Good riddance I say.

Many years ago, I was public servanting at an overseas post when the Lynch ‘Razor Gang’ was operating.

We were required to sack 2 local staff, under some formula these arseholes had arrived at. We dutifully sacked 2 cleaners, saving the Australian Gov a massive $800 PER ANNUM. Putting 2 families on the street.

I’m fairly sure the Liberal Party are still as stupid!

Or hose them out of the rear turret…

The Herald Scum, ever a voice of political reason!

And Trish Crossin – I mean, I’m no fan of how she was axed but honestly, her and Snowden are just holding up the show; Snowden’s been around since the 80s for heaven’s sake, move on already.

And who can look at Crossin without seeing a splitting image of “Daffyd” ..

Already done!

“We’ve considered your announced election policies and your mandate, however, we have concluded your policies are not feasible and we do not intend to implement them.

We have sought to identify all available alternative options to give effect to the intent of your policies, and we have, in fact, identified one feasible option: the current policy. The current policy was announced in the 2004-05 Budget. The Department received an Implementation Plan from its consultant in May 2011. The Implementation Plan has not been implemented. Subject to the availability of further budget supplementation, we are able to continue to implement the policy just as it is.
