Aren’t you a little old to be waving a katana around?

johnboy 16 September 2011 7

ACT Policing has taken a man into custody following a weapon incident in Fadden tonight (Thursday, September 15).

Around 5pm police responded to reports of a man threatening a neighbour with a samurai sword.

The man, aged in his 70’s, was taken into custody about 7pm by police without further incident.

He was later released to receive medical treatment for a pre-existing condition. The male person will be summonsed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.

A number of roads were closed during the incident. Road blocks were reopened shortly after 7pm.

Strange how police will attend to a residential dispute in Fadden but ignore the regular car hoon-fests in that same suburb. In fact, had the police van parked on Bugden Ave. blocking access to Partridge Street last night been in the same spot a few days earlier it would have been taken out by the hoon doing a 200m full street width burnout along Bugden.

On the last samurai sword incident I think they shot the bloke - hate to think they were going to do the same thing again.

It's a no-brainer that a hoon in a high powered car on the wrong side of the road is potentially more lethal than a medicated 70 year old with a samurai sword but I can't remember the last time a car hoon was shot.
And the most idiotic comment of the day, goes to....
Well, don't keep us in suspense Tooks, please explain yourself.

Same out here near braidwood mate, nice, quiet, and sword wielding geriatric maniac free!

Well, as opposed to the city, where the sword weilding geriatric maniac IS free.

What a waste of police resources.

They should have knocked on his door, and discussed this matter over a cup of tea, giving him a warning.Instead-they almost had him have a heart attack. And I bet his neighbours are the wild, bogan type, and he was just fed up with their feral behaviour. :-D

Poor old man.... lol
