A man armed with a knife, and a woman suspected to be armed with a syringe, committed an aggravated robbery at the Spar Express Supermarket at Ngunnawal Shops last night (Sunday, October 16).

About 8.30 pm the pair entered the shop on Jabanungga Avenue, demanding money from the shop attendant. The shop attendant complied, handing over money from the cash registers.

The couple fled the scene on foot with a sum of cash. No one was injured during the robbery.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, between 23 to 29 years of age, about 6’ (183cm) tall, of medium build with an Australian accent. He was wearing a dark coloured top and trousers with a dark coloured cap.

The woman is described as having olive skin, aged between 20 to 27 years-old, about 6’ (183cm) tall, with an average build and an Australian accent. She was wearing a dark coloured, long sleeve jumper and dark pants.

Anyone who may be able to assist police with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Sounds like the employees need danger money.

Have we reached the point where having an Australian accent is a distinguishing feature? I would’ve thought that this would be assumed, and an accent would only be mentioned if it added something to the description. For example, “The suspect had a heavy Estonian accent…” would really narrow things down.

I bet the supermarket is unhappy that the video store closed down how ever long ago.
