Submissions for the inaugural Harrison Art Show are now being accepted which will be held at the Harrison School Performing Arts Centre on June 29.

The Art Show will support local artists and also have select works of art from the students of Harrison School on display and available for purchase.

Harrison School Principal Mr Dennis Yarrington said the show would be an opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work in what will become an annual event on the school calendar.

“We are establishing an event that will allow talented students to exhibit their own work among professional artists,” he said.

“The art show will allow artists to exhibit work that could potentially lead to sales and support the school at the same time. We have more than 600 families and a potential audience beyond 2000.”

Submissions will be accepted in painting, drawing, photography, mixed media and sculpture categories.

All entries must be made available for sale and will be eligible for the people’s choice awards unless otherwise stated.

Entry cost is $5 for miniature works (148x210mm or smaller) or $10 for all other works with 20% commission being retained by the Harrison School Community Association.

All artists submitting artwork will receive a complimentary ticket for the opening night and be in the running for the major prize of $250.

All entry forms are required back by June 22 with artwork required to be delivered on June 27.

The Art Show will launch at 7pm on June 29 with a complimentary glass of wine and canapés and will also be open the next day between 1 – 4pm with a gold coin donation requested at the door.
